Fighting with Paula – Living with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis: My 1st week on Xeljanz XR

Hey everyone,

Today marks my first full week on Xeljanz XR and I am so optimistic about it. It’s the first week in MONTHS that I have actually lived more of a “normal/pain free” life. Even though I’ve been on Prednisone for 12 days, which I know may also play a big role in why I am feelings great, I am still being positive that Xeljanz XR will continue to work its magic. I will be officially done with Prednisone in a few days and I am excited to see how the new treatment will work on its own. This week I have been able to wear any shoes without feeling discomfort or pain. I was able to walk a long distance without limping and I was finally able to start working out!!! I started doing yoga at home to slowly get back into a “normal” workout routine and its day 3 and I couldn’t be more excited. I am going up and down the stairs with full energy to the point where I am running up and down the stairs. To be honest this is the greatest feeling of freedom. I missed being able to do things without being limited. Even though I have all the energy in the world and I am not feeling pain, I am taking it easy and not trying to over-exceed myself. As much as I hate taking Prednisone, I do love it for the fact that I can actually feel relief right away. I am hoping that Xeljanz XR will be the medication that will help me have more freedom to do the things I would want to do.

   *Stronger than Arthritis*

Hola Todos,
