Cheap ‘n Cheerful

It’s been a busy and stressful week, and it occurred to me that sometimes we all need to make a little ‘pick-me-up’ purchase. Just something small that will bring a smile to our faces. You don’t need to spend a fortune (although if you can afford to do so, then please don’t let me stop you) but occasionally a frivolous, cheery purchase can be just the mood lifter that we need. If it adds a little colour to your life, well that’s a plus. And if double-jobs to camouflage or distract from your psoriasis, well that’s even better again!
So today it’s all about accessories. Cheap ‘n cheerful is the name of the game. If the weather won’t cooperate, then let’s bring a bit of sunshine into our lives another way. Starting with some brightly coloured stacking bracelets from H&M. How lovely when stacked alongside your watch and some of your usual gold or silver bracelets. A fun injection of summer on your wrist.
H&M 5 Pack Bracelets, €6.99
H&M 16 Pack Bracelets, €7.99
Everyone is wearing some version of the tassel earring this summer – the most popular seem to be the oversized pairs from H&M. Instead I’ve opted for a slightly more conservative version from Accessorize, the Capri Filigree Tassel Earrings, €9.90
However, if like me psoriasis has dictated that pierced ears are no longer an option, I do have a clip-on pair to show you. I may have strayed somewhat from the ‘cheap’ part of the brief with these, but aren’t they gorgeous?
Oscar de la Renta Beaded Melon Tassel ClipOn Earrings, €349
Or if earrings aren’t your ‘thing’, what about a new watch? A bright burst of colour on your wrist … and wouldn’t this look great paired with some of those stacking bracelets above? Available in a range of colours.
H&M Watch, €19.99
Saving the best til last with this Pack of Bandana Chokers, €9.95 from Zara. These come in a variety of colours and although I personally wouldn’t wear the choker, the little scarf has tons of possibilities. Wear as a neckerchief for some French je ne sais quoi. Wrap around a bobbin to make a bad hair day better. Tuck it into the breast pocket of your jacket for a jaunty look. Or, best of all, wrap and tie on your wrist a la the Hermés Twilly, for a very chic touch.
So how’s the weather been in your part of the world? Are the warmer temperatures irritating your psoriasis? I’ll be back next week to talk about how to look and feel good during these summer months. Have a great weekend!
