As someone who has lived with Parkinson’s disease for over 30 years, I can assure you that the most beneficial action that you can make in your life is to take charge and get as healthy as you can. Here are some suggestions that have worked for me and may work for you:
- Stay active, be it walking, swimming, weights, cardio, Rock Steady Boxing, yoga, or stretching – do something!
- If your speech needs help, look into finding a speech therapist or speech language pathologist that specializes in treating those with Parkinson’s disease.
- Reduce your stress level through meditation, Qigong, Tai Chi, or Reiki.
- Reduce or eliminate your exposure to harmful chemicals either in your environment or in your food. A recent article in The Guardian newspaper talks about the influence of chemicals in the development of Parkinson’s disease.
